Verdict

Little Giant for serious users; Werner for occasional homeowners.

+ What we liked

  • Both convert between A-frame, extension, and stairway use
  • Both feel sturdy at full extension
  • Both have load ratings well above the typical homeowner need

− What could be better

  • !Werner's locking pins require a touch of fiddling
  • !Little Giant is markedly heavier

Two multi-position ladders, four months of household projects. Here's the answer.

Werner

Lighter (37 lb vs. 47 lb), the locking pins require a slight push to seat correctly. The build quality is good and the price is lower. We had no failures across four months.

Little Giant

Heavier, the locking mechanisms are more positive (you feel them seat). The build quality is the best in the category, and we'd pick it for any user who's at the top of a ladder more than once a month.

The bottom line

If you're at the top of a ladder regularly, get the Little Giant. If you clean gutters twice a year, the Werner is fine.

Bought a used one off Marketplace based on this review. Working great, half the price.

Curious about your noise measurement methodology. dB readings vary a lot with mic placement.

The methodology section was actually really helpful. Most reviews skip explaining how they tested.

Bought ours four months ago. Holding up well, but the cord storage clip broke in week 8 and customer service didn't seem to care.

Good honest review. The 'we don't recommend' section is the part I trust the most — most reviews can't bring themselves to be negative about anything.

Reading this on a Saturday morning with my coffee. This is what subscription-supported reviews should look like.

I came here to see if you'd address the dishwasher question and you did. Bought based on that detail alone. Thanks.
