Verdict

If you have sensitive skin and rotary is your style, the S9000 Prestige is genuinely good.

+ What we liked

  • Closer shave than any rotary we've tested
  • Battery lasts three weeks on one charge
  • Skin-comfort is genuinely better in week eight than week one

− What could be better

  • !Cleaning station cartridges are pricey
  • !Shaving heads need replacement at month nine

If your style is rotary, the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is the flagship. After 90 days of daily duty for two staff testers, here's the report.

What's working

The shave is closer than any rotary we've tested, and the skin-comfort improves with use as the heads break in. Battery life is excellent — three weeks of daily use on a single charge. The shaver itself is built well and feels worth the price.

What's not

The cleaning station cartridges. They're $7-10 each, last 4-6 weeks, and you go through them faster than the marketing suggests. Plan to spend ~$70/year on cartridges if you use the station daily.

The verdict

For rotary fans with sensitive skin, the S9000 Prestige is the right call. Skip the cleaning station and rinse the shaver under the tap — that's our long-term workflow.

Bought ours last week on the strength of this review. Two days in, fully agree on the headline. Quiet enough that I can run it before 7 a.m. without waking my partner.

The 'what we'd skip' section is gold. Wish more reviewers were willing to call out duds.

Disagree slightly. Mine has been in the rotation for a year and the surface coating is starting to show wear. Worth knowing before you buy.

Mine arrived with a minor cosmetic defect. Took two emails but got a replacement, no return needed.

Honest review, thank you. The price has come down ~$60 since launch and at this price it's genuinely a no-brainer.

Honest question — did you test in a small apartment? My main concern is footprint, and most reviews skip that.

Skeptical reader here. Came in expecting to disagree. After three weeks of ownership, you nailed it.
